StreetScooter GmbH, a subsidiary of Deutsche Post and market leader for electric light commercial vehicles (eLCV), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chinese automobile manufacturer Chery Holding Group (Chery) establishing a joint venture between the two companies.

As part of its development strategy in high-growth countries, and particularly China, Valeo has acquired an 80% shareholding in the company Ruby (a lighting specialist) from Chery Technology, a subsidiary of Chinese automaker Chery Automobile. Chery Technology will retain a 20% stake in the company.

Johnson Controls will provide its Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) advanced lead-acid battery technology to power the Chery Jaguar Land Rover Start-Stop and other vehicles made in China to serve the China market. Start-Stop systems help reduce fuel consumption as the engine shuts off when the vehicle comes to a stop in traffic or at a red light.
