It appears that South Korean automaker Kia is taking some steps to ensure that its EV9 all-electric SUV will qualify for the full $7,500 federal tax credit in the United States next year. Currently, production of the EV9 is in South Korea, but Kia is looking to start manufacturing the all-electric SUV at its West Point, Georgia plant.

Kia expects the EV9 will qualify for the full $7,500 EV tax credit by early next year. Kia America’s head of corporate communications, James Bell, told Nikkei that moving EV9 production to its West Point, GA plant will enable it to qualify for a part of the EV tax credit. After Rivian added two new range options for the R1T and R1S last week, the electric truck and SUV maker has also cut prices on some of its lineup. Rivian has cut $3,100 off of its entry-level R1T and R1S units on its online configurators , just as it has debuted new range options costing the same amount.

Meanwhile, Hyundai said it expects the global auto market to continue growing in the future as the shift to electric heats up. Hyundai said its investment plans for 2024 include increasing the number of mass-produced models and building its new EV plant in Georgia while continuing to develop future tech.
