The first Audi Q8 e-tron drove off the production line at the Brussels plant yesterday, 14 December, marking the beginning of an era for the new top model in Audi’s electric SUV range. The plant has been a model for sustainable production since the production of the Audi e-tron began.

As of 2018, Audi Brussels will produce exclusively the commercial version of Audi’s e-tron quattro battery-electric SUV ( earlier post ). Audi will transfer production of the Audi A1 from Brussels to Martorell in Spain; in 2014, Audi Brussels produced 115,378 Audi A1 models.

Audi has begun construction on a more than €900-million plant, comprising a press shop, body shop and assembly line in San José Chiapa, Mexico—the company’s first plant in North America. Starting in mid-2016, the plant will produce the successor generation of the successful Audi Q5 SUV.

The Porsche Macan is based on the Audi co-developed PPE platform, which will also power the upcoming Q6 E-Tron. The Győr, Hungary, site supplies both Audi and Porsche.
