Audi is adding a new member to its A3 family: the A3 Sportback 30 g-tron natural gas vehicle. Operation with natural gas or biomethane makes the compact model economical and more climate-friendly with low emissions. Audi first introduced an A3 Sportback g-tron in 2014. With this fuel, driving is nearly climate-neutral.

Audi is partnering with the Zurich-based environmental start-up and promoting a future technology with the project. Climeworks is removing 1,000 metric tons thereof from the atmosphere on behalf of Audi. C using waste heat from a nearby geothermal plant to release the CO 2 molecules. One quarter of that will be credited to Audi.

Audi has introduced the natural-gas-fueled A4 Avant g-tron; dealers in Europe will begin taking orders for the midsize model starting in early summer 2017. Additionally, Audi is now offering e-gas to power the A3 Sportback g-tron as standard; customers will pay only the regular natural gas price. A4 Avant g-tron. lb per 62.1

The Audi e-gas plant in the city of Werlte in Lower Saxony ( earlier post ) produces CO 2 neutral-fuel (synthetic methane from water, renewable electricity and CO 2 ); it now also contributes toward stabilizing the public power grid. The Audi A3 Sportback g‑tron with 81 kW (110 hp) of power is currently available from dealers.
