Audi is adding a new member to its A3 family: the A3 Sportback 30 g-tron natural gas vehicle. Operation with natural gas or biomethane makes the compact model economical and more climate-friendly with low emissions. Audi first introduced an A3 Sportback g-tron in 2014. With this fuel, driving is nearly climate-neutral.

A pilot plant in Dresden has started production of the synthetic fuel Audi e-diesel using water, CO 2 and green power—i.e., The energy technology company sunfire is Audi’s project partner and the plant operator. Dr. Johanna Wanka put the first five liters into her official car, an Audi A8 3.0 power-to-liquid (PtL).

Audi this week signed an agreement with the international consortium “ Desertec Industrial Initiative ”. The long-term goal of the joint venture is the climate-friendly production of electricity in the deserts of North Africa and the Middle East. Electric cars from Audi will run on sustainably produced electricity.
