Pennsylvania has awarded more than $3 million in Fuel Incentive Grants (AFIG) to 33 companies, counties and organizations making the switch to compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), or propane for medium to light-weight fleet vehicles. This year, AFIG grants focused on medium- to light-weight vehicles.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will award more than $4.4 million in Alternative Fuels Incentive Grants to 12 projects across the state. will receive $500,000 to replace 20 diesel-fueled delivery trucks with 20 trucks fueled by compressed natural gas. The projects are: Natural Gas.

Pennsylvania recently announced the investment of $7.9 million in 21 alternative fuel projects in the state. —$750,000—to purchase 29 compressed natural gas ( CNG ) and electric/plug-in vehicles , and to install 10 public electric vehicle charging stations—the first of their kind in Pennsylvania.

A team at the University of Pennsylvania is proposing the use of a liquid-organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC)—specifically, 1,2,3,4 -tetrahydroquinoline (THQ)—for use as an endothermic fuel for thermal protection of hypersonic aircraft engines. A paper on their work is published in the journal Fuel.
