The BMW Group has created a closed-loop material cycle for tungsten used in drill and milling bits for industrial machinery used in producing cars; the company is collecting old drill and milling bits at its plants in Germany and Austria for recycling. About half of this comes from the BMW Group plant in Steyr, Austria.

Volkswagen used the annual Wörthersee festival in Austria as the venue to unveil the Golf GTE Sport concept plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Featuring a carbon fiber body and a three power unit, all-wheel drive system, the 295 kW (396 hp) Golf GTE Sport accelerates from 0 - 100 km/h in 4.3 Golf GTE Sport PHEV concept.

The figure used for this motor’s name now refers to the power output instead of the NEDC range as was previously the case. The FSV Program is midway through its second phase, designing optimized AHSS body structures for four proposed 2015-2020 year vehicles: battery electric (BEV); plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV), with both PHEV-20 and PHEV-40 powertrains; and fuel cell (FCV), with variants among the different powertrain types for four and five passengers vehicles.
