The Terra SC will be available for delivery in Europe in the second quarter, starting at €9,988 (US$13,310) for small volume orders. Unlike some other DC fast chargers, the Terra SC uses the widely available 3-phase 32A input, which eliminates the need for a costly grid connection upgrade. Output DC voltage range is 180 – 500 V.

This is somewhat at odds with the “urban city car model” of electric vehicle adoption, where both parking availability and car ownership is lower. Battery technology is unlikely to deliver this very high, single charge range in an affordable vehicle. This is based on an average grid CO 2 intensity of around 0.14 Utilization.

It charges the battery in “battery charge” mode; in “battery hold” it saves the available electric energy for a later time. This makes it possible for the waste heat from the electrical drive components to be made available to the interior of the Q7 e-tron quattro. It heats and cools the interior quickly and effectively.
