In 2020, Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivered more than 212,000 electric cars in total (+158 percent versus 2019), including nearly 134,000 battery electric vehicles (+197 percent versus 2019). 3 were ordered in 2020. 3 was the most frequently delivered BEV in Finland, Slovenia and Norway in December. Some 68,800 units of the ID.3

A total of 1,138,057 new passenger cars were registered in Europe in January 2020, representing a decline of 7.6% —Felipe Munoz, global analyst at JATO Dynamics. All electrified types contributed to growth as hybrids (HEV) increased their volume by 36%, pure electric (BEV) by 91% and plug-in hybrids (PHEV) by 173%.

The global EV Charger (EVC) market is forecast to grow from more than 1 million units in 2014 to more than 12.7 million units in 2020, according to a new EV Charging Infrastructure report by IHS Inc. In Europe, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Norway currently lead the way in terms of a number of charging station deployments.

February 2020 registrations of HEVs were up 46% to 59,000; PHEVs were up 153% to 28,700; and BEVs were up 92% to 38,700 units year-on-year.
