The trains, which will convey travellers between Cuxhaven, Bremerhaven, Bremervörde and Buxtehude from December 2021, will replace the diesel multiple units of the transport authority Elbe-Weser-Verkehrsbetriebe (evb) and will reduce the pollutant emission in daily service to zero. The companies also signed a 30-year maintenance agreement.

Orders are being accepted immediately, and delivery of the new product will begin in the fourth quarter of 2018. The new Lightning Electric LEV100 model will offer peak motor power of 295 horsepower with a 2-speed Eaton automatic transmission, providing 1821 lb-ft (2,469 N·m) in first gear and a 65-mph governed top speed.

The exclusive pre-ordering phase for the mid-size van begins today in Germany, with market launch scheduled for the second half of 2018. If more speed is needed, the customer can choose a top speed of up to 120 km/h (75 mph).
