The European Commission has launched an infringement procedure against Italy for failure to fulfil its obligations under EU vehicle type-approval legislation with regards to Fiat Chrysler (FCA) automobiles. The EPA in January accused FCA of illegally using undisclosed software to allow excess diesel emissions in about 104,000 cars and SUVs.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has reached a $300 million plea deal after pleading guilty to criminal conduct concerning an emissions fraud probe involving its vehicles with diesel engines, a new report from Reuters said. It would then allow the vehicles to pollute beyond legal limits on public roadways.
