The report’s findings for the period 1997–2007 present a mixed picture, with some improvements in air pollutants and serious concerns regarding persistent growth in transport’s greenhouse gas emissions. Air travel within the EU remained the fastest growth area, increasing 48% between 1997 and 2007.

The European Community’s air pollutant emission inventory report released by the European Environment Agency finds that in 2007, sulphur oxides (SO x ) emissions were down by 72 % from 1990 levels. EU-27 emissions of all four pollutants were lower in 2007 than in 2006.

So far Israel, Denmark, Australia , Hawaii and California’s Bay Area have plans to implement the Better Place model. Better Place is building stations in San Francisco, Hawaii, Israel, and Denmark to swap out 1,000 pound batteries in a car wash type set up. Several global indicators on the supply of oil and the known carbon pollution environmental damages its caused all lead us to find cleaner ways of transportation. They will not meet my needs.

The EDISON (Electric Vehicles in a Distributed and Integrated Market using Sustainable Energy and Open Networks) research consortium will seek to match power generation from wind turbines on the island of Bornholm, Denmark, with the power consumption of charging plug-in electric cars. The project is partly funded by the government of Denmark.
