Shanghai GM (Shenyang) Norsom Motors, GM China’s joint venture with SAIC and Shanghai GM in Shenyang, broke ground for its new manufacturing facility. Its products will be sold by Shanghai GM. Like Shanghai GM, it will be lean, agile, flexible and modular. GM China and SAIC each hold 25% stakes.

You could get a new Alero with a Getrag five-on-the-floor all the way through the demise of Oldsmobile in 2004.

General Motors discussed its future plans in China during a press conference in conjunction with the start of Auto Shanghai 2013. GM is also in the process of bringing Cadillac’s entire global portfolio to China, adding one locally produced model per year through 2016. —Gary Smyth.

Toyota followed with the Prius a year later, but it took GM until 2006 to introduce its first true gasoline-electric hybrid here. If we look at the fine print, GM actually introduced a sort-of-a-hybrid vehicle as a 2004 model , though the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid/GMC Sierra Hybrid didn't have regenerative braking.

The new, downsized General Motors Company emerged from bankruptcy Friday morning. Created from the old GM’s strongest operations in an asset sale approved by the Federal bankruptcy court on 5 July ( earlier post ), the new GM is built on four core brands: Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC.
