Tesla has proposed to help Palo Alto upgrade the Standford Research Park’s (SRP) electric infrastructure. The car manufacturer’s proposal would upgrade SRP power lines and knock out a big chunk of Palo Alto’s electric infrastructure goal. Tesla is also paying extra to expedite the project.

The Sierra Estrella energy storage facility, constructed by utility company Salt River Project (SRP) and energy system constructor Plus Power LLC, will be the largest of its kind in Arizona. SRP notes that it is currently constructing more solar projects, which will feed the Megapack system as they come online in the coming years.

Although SRP, Arizona’s electric power and water utility, didn’t offer a rebate when she purchased the car, there is a $250 rebate available on many charger options on the SRP Marketplace. Electricity here is pretty reasonable, and SRP offers a time-of-use price plan where drivers can save money if they charge their EVs between 11 p.m.
