Oil and gas giant Shell has partnered with Penske Truck Leasing to launch a new joint initiative to support light-duty electric vehicle charging at Penske locations. Penske Truck Leasing and Shell will initially deploy a series of Level 2 electric truck charging stations with plug-and-charge capabilities in four U.S.

“Any new technology like the Chevy Volt takes time to become profitable,&# said Jay Friedland, the legislative director for Plug-In America , an electric-car advocacy group. is hoping to launch the Volt in late 2010 with a price tag of about $40,000. About $750 million is needed for near-term Volt development, according to the company.
