The Climate Change Commission has recommended setting a time limit on light vehicles with internal combustion engines entering, being manufactured, or assembled in Aotearoa as early as 2030. We would recommend signalling a phase-out date for new petrol vehicles between 2030 and 2032, and confirming that in law in 2024/2025.
