I am delighted to see the pace of change in Europe – challenging our entire industry to build better, cleaner, and more digital vehicles. Ford is turning some focus toward this market as it is likely to be one of the biggest catalysts to EV sales company-wide. It will be produced in Craiova, Romania, starting in 2024.

The European Parliament’s Committees on industry (ITRE) and transport (TRAN) will vote on the European Commission’s proposal for future car and van CO 2 targets on 10 July. On the other end of the spectrum, a country such as Romania—roughly six times bigger than the Netherlands—only has 114 charging points.

All sales types fell in January, although the fall in the private sector was less steep, perhaps reflective of the VAT cuts but more likely that the private sector had already begun to decline in January 2008, the SMMT suggested. All segments showed falling volumes in January, except the mini segment, which was up 40.8%.

With its extended range of electric passenger and commercial vehicle models, Ford expects its annual sales of electric vehicles in Europe to exceed 600,000 units in 2026, and also reaffirmed its intention to deliver a 6% EBIT margin in Europe in 2023. Starting in 2023, Ford will begin production of an all-new electric passenger.
