Leveraging Parking Lot Solar Panels for EV Charging

Clean Fleet Report

Parking lots covered with solar panels is an idea whose time has come. Can Solar Panels Produce Enough Juice? It’s possible to construct off-grid charging stations, but they come with hassles, such as storing power when the sun doesn’t shine. Why aren’t such facilities multiplying everywhere? The way it could be.

The trials of public charging, part 2 (of many to come)

Plugs and Cars

Only half the story about public charging is providing juice: enabling drivers to extend the range of their vehicles beyond their night-time "fill-up" at home when necessary and overcoming newbie "range anxiety." A charge station appears at the grocery store you frequent. Juice flows. Take that every way it can be taken.

Lessons from a year with solar power

EV Info

Our system was configured with two battery units each with 2.4kWh storage giving 4.8KWh of maximum stored capacity. Then as the sun sets in the West, hopefully the battery pack would have enough juice to power the house for the rest of the evening. . Again we had no idea if these were good or not and took advice from Contact Solar.

Greenlings: Benefits of charging stations vs. battery swaps vs. home charging

Tony Karrer Delicious EVdriven

Also, besides giving you the ability to charge at night when most utility rates are lower, future vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology may allow you to sell some of your stored energy back to the utilities. Currently, there are some industrial facilities that use battery swapping to replenish the energy stores of electric forklifts.
