Toyota said today it would recall some 2010 Toyota Prius and 2010 Lexus HS 250h hybrid cars in the U.S. due to a potentially faulty brake-pressure accumulator. The component, said the company, may develop an internal crack due to metal fatigue caused by vibrations over the course of the vehicle life.

Lexus International announced it has sold more than 1 million hybrid vehicles worldwide since the RX 400h went on sale in April 2005. As of the end of March 2016, Lexus had sold approximately 1,000,600 hybrid vehicles in 11 years. Today, Lexus manufactures ten hybrid models, with more on the way.

Not even a year old, Lexus HS 250h has already endured its fair share of criticisms: It's not as fuel efficient as the Prius. While I can agree that at least two-thirds of these complaints are valid, I can't help but feel that the idea behind the hybrid Lexus is a good one. . It's more expensive than the Prius.

Lincoln’s 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid ( earlier post ) now officially carries an EPA-certified 41 mpg rating in city driving and 36 mpg on the highway, making it the officially the most fuel-efficient luxury sedan in the US. The 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid’s final fuel economy certification was completed this week.
