More recently, Gage became the CEO of EVGrid , working on Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) tech. Chapter member Ian Wright cofounded Tesla then later founded Wrightspeed, a company that built large hybrid trucks in San Jose. Founding EVA chapter connects with entrepreneurial stars. And that entrepreneurship persists here in the valley.

The car is a “2” because it was preceded by the “1,” which is an electric performance plug-in hybrid GT, with a six-figure price tag and a limited output of 500 units per year over the next three years. There are already spaces in New York City and Los Angeles, and there are now two in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I’m located.

Or maybe the guy driving the car was babying it because he knew Frank was biased… or scared of new things. The Focus is supposed to get 100 miles to a charge, but Frank is very worried about where people are going to plug in their cars. Frank talked about how expensive EV cars are going to be but he didn’t do all the math.

The good news is that positive things ARE happening and our efforts are starting to make a difference. With the coming solar feed-in tariff legislation moving through Sacramento that will pay us for the extra solar energy we produce and feed back into the grid. But they’re not a slam dunk in today’s economy.

As I read in the San Jose Mercury News about California's flex-fuel fleet fiasco. a near silent electric trolley bus passes by my window on Haight St in San Francisco, an old technology tried, true, and spurned by the environmental "experts" of the present and recent past.
