We’re also only 12 miles from the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach – the two largest stationary sources off air pollution and all their related greenhouse gases in L.A. I volunteer with GRID Alternatives installing solar panels on low income and Habitat for Humanity houses.

The quickest and most effective way to make that happen today is to green the current grid, house-by-house, by installing rooftop solar energy systems that feed clean, renewable power into the grid the second they’re switched on. We cannot afford to wait for them and we don’t have to. I’m ready to start right now.

With the coming solar feed-in tariff legislation moving through Sacramento that will pay us for the extra solar energy we produce and feed back into the grid. If Los Angeles County were a nation, its economy would be the 18th largest in the world. County the national leader in solar energy it has the power to make that happen.

The prototype vehicle, called Project PUMA (Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility), is designed to ease congestion and pollution problems in cities. It is based on the Segway Personal Transporter but holds two people, instead of one, and lets them sit, instead of stand. You could even call it Personal On-demand Driving.
