Golf carts are no longer just for cruising the country club. Thanks to US golf cart maker E-Z-GO , which partnered with National Calendar Day to help establish National Golf Cart Day in celebration of the brand’s 70th anniversary, we can now all celebrate these pint-sized car replacements with their own holiday.

The fast acceleration capability of electric vehicles was a key component to reducing the “golf cart” image of EVs that existed before the Tesla Model S emerged in 2012. What we need are compelling reasons for people to buy an EV — and Ford has nailed it with its F-150 Lightning.

Wait, you might be thinking to yourself, what about the Tesla Model S which single-handedly changed the image of EVs from glorified golf carts into fast as all heck, 300+-mile range, aspirational computers on wheels? Ford Intelligent Power. A humongous frunk — with power outlets. Less maintenance/Lower TCO.

They’re also not nearly as powerful, since they are federally limited to just 25 mph (40 km/h) top speeds. The Eli Zero, for example, has a pile of features that should be familiar to any car owner, such as heat and air-conditioning, reverse camera, parking radar sensors, keyless unlocking/starting, power steering, and more.

Creature comforts include air conditioning, power steering, sunroof, and electric windows and mirrors. The customer will only pay a monthly fee about $240 (US Dollars) which includes a full maintenance service agreement; carbon offset payments and in some countries even all electricity used, and insurance. Electric cars a still a joke.
