US DOE awards KiOR loan guarantee supporting a more than $1B biofuels project; drop-in fuels from wood biomass

The project would convert wood biomass into drop in biofuels such as gasoline and diesel fuel. The first two plants are expected to be in Mississippi, with additional sites planned in Georgia and Texas. Re-Crude is refined into gasoline and diesel blendstocks that are compatible with existing fuel infrastructure.

UPS updates 125 Workhorse E-GEN series hybrid electric step vans with smaller genset engine for better fuel economy

The updated trucks, which were originally purchased in September 2015, deliver up to four times the fuel economy of a gasoline-powered vehicle, UPS said. The trucks will be deployed in Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Nevada, Ohio and Texas later this year. The smaller engine will improve fuel economy, however.
