By John Coulter, CURRENT EV CMO In its new Prime, Toyota offers a RAV4 green version that employs a hybrid drivetrain relying on a gas engine and electric motors that draw power from a plug and regenerative braking. There are 2 Prime trims, SE and XSE, both equipped with All-Wheel Drive and a fully-electric hybrid powertrain.

I t wasn't that long ago that I remember a Chrysler ad that bragged about how its new Charger, with the big V 8, was a hybrid. it burned gas and rubber. The Korean automaker's promised to put a hybrid subcompact, a hybrid mid-size and a plug-in competitor to the Chevrolet Volt on the road within five years.

It’s been an interesting week for followers of plug-in hybrid technology. Those who think they are the natural successor for full hybrids as we continue the movement towards lower emission driving will be thrilled with Volvo’s plans to unveil a plug-in hybrid car by 2012 (see article ). Does Toyota have a point?

Out in the desert as part of Burning Man , our encampment, Snow Koan Solar, is setting up a solar photovoltaic EV Charging Station (at 7:30 and Desert) for electric scooters, golf carts, sofas and barstools. We'll also be taking Burning Man art projects off petroleum generators by switching them to solar electricity. Google Guys Th!nk
