The proposed amendments, known as LEV III, ask for more stringent tailpipe and greenhouse gas emission standards for new passenger vehicles sold between 2018 and 2025. ARB will hold three evening workshops throughout the state to hear input from the public as this rulemaking process advances. The fourth workshop provided.

In December 2008, the Board adopted two regulations directly aimed at reducing PM, NO x and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the estimated one million heavy-duty diesel trucks that operate in California. The earliest date for a modification of the rule would be April 2010, and would require workshops, and an public comment period.
