And I’m one those million since they’re counting plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) as well as full battery electrics. Toyota Prius Prime PHEV – 14,275. Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV – 7,988. Ford Mustang Mach-E EV – 5,807. Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV – 4,427. Nissan and Ford are expected to follow shortly.

Among electric vehicles from automakers that report specific sales numbers for their EV models, the Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV was tops in the US in 2021 with 27,3707 units sold. Another top-selling EV beyond Tesla models that is not included is the Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV, which likely saw 2021 sales of between 20,000-25,000.

From January 1 to June 30, 2021 an estimated 291,933 BEVs and PHEVs (plug-in electric vehicles) were purchased, roughly 30,000 below the 320,000 average for the full years of 2018-2020. This inaugural report includes an Excel file and table of actual and estimated sales of 57 EVs for Q1 and Q2 2021 which is also categorized by BEV and PHEV.

Ford Mustang Mach-E 15,938. Reflecting back just a few years, this list is amazing. It’s a robust list of a variety of models–the majority of which are focused on the hot crossover segment–with total sales of more than 150,000 from six major automaker groups. Tesla Model 3 80,681. Chevrolet Bolt 22,799.
