Toyota Prius Prime PHEV – 14,275. Ford Mustang Mach-E EV – 5,807. The good news about the list of EV and PHEV sales from last year is there were 86 models listed, though several were cars that have gone out of production (like my Chevy Volt) but still managed to have a few laggards left for sale. Nissan Leaf EV – 4,192.

I think my list of faves likely is influenced by my overarching love for compact cars. 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse: I drove this at the same event where I drove the Type S, and since I am a sucker for muscular pony cars, I was enamored right away. Were Ford to iron out some of the kinks, this would be a truly magnificent vehicle.

Ford Mustang Mach-E 15,938. Reflecting back just a few years, this list is amazing. It’s a robust list of a variety of models–the majority of which are focused on the hot crossover segment–with total sales of more than 150,000 from six major automaker groups. Tesla Model 3 80,681. Chevrolet Bolt 22,799.

Conversions are mostly for the Prius, with a few for the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner hybrid SUVs. For a list of conversions completed to date, see Where PHEVs (mostly Priuses) Are. The easiest conversions are for 2004-2008 Prius (not 2001-2003 Prius) and the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner Hybrid.
