Volvo Trucks and Bucher Municipal have now entered into a collaboration to electrify sewer cleaner trucks. Bucher Municipal is expecting that up to 80 sewer trucks, or 50% of their production of cleaning vehicles, will be zero exhaust emission trucks from Volvo by the end of 2023. —Volvo Trucks President Roger Alm.

Zenuity, the joint venture between Volvo Cars and Autoliv, Inc. At the same time Volvo Cars will contribute intellectual property, know-how and personnel into the joint venture. As previously announced, Volvo Cars and Autoliv own the joint venture 50/50. Volvo Cars can source such products directly from the joint venture.

Uber is expanding its self-driving pilot to San Francisco, California, using specially-converted self-driving Volvo XC90 premium SUVs. Volvo Cars and Uber are contributing a combined US$300 million to the project. Both Uber and Volvo will use the same base vehicle for the next stage of their own autonomous car strategies.

Volvo Cars and Autoliv have signed a letter of intent to set up a new jointly-owned company to develop next-generation autonomous driving software. The planned new company will have its headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, and an initial workforce taken from both companies of around 200, increasing to over 600 in the medium term.

Volvo Cars, and Autoliv signed a final agreement to establish a new joint venture called Zenuity to develop software for autonomous driving (AD) and driver assistance systems (ADAS), based on the letter of intent announced during fall 2016. As previously announced, Autoliv and Volvo Cars will own the joint venture 50/50.

Polestar, the premium electric car brand from Sweden, announces today its first all-electric SUV will be manufactured in the United States. The forthcoming Polestar 3, an aerodynamic electric performance SUV, will be manufactured alongside new Volvo vehicles at the Volvo Cars production center in Ridgeville, South Carolina.
