The catalyst is a sand-like material made fluid by the hot vapor and liquid fed into the FCC. Butane and lighter HCs are processed further to separate them into fuel gas (mostly methane and ethane), propane, propylene, butane, and butene for sale, or for further processing or use.

FCC units are found in most refineries worldwide and are used to produce gasoline and diesel from vacuum gas oil (VGO). There, Ensyn’s RFO is used as a feedstock in Fluid Catalytic Crackers (FCCs).

Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) is awarding Nsolv $13 million in grant funding to commercialize its field-tested, proprietary warm solvent technology for in situ heavy oil extraction without the use of steam. The oil is sent to refineries for further processing. Coke-forming asphaltenes are sequestered.

So far GM, Toyota, Nissan, VW, Mitsubishi, have all announced plug in vehicles they will have for sale in 2010.
