AC Propulsion has delivered an AC Propulsion-powered eBox to the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where it will be used to evaluate Vehicle to Grid (V2G) operation as part of a research program. Integration between the power grid and electric vehicles will become essential and beneficial as EV numbers increase over the next decade.

The electrical motor draws its energy from a high-voltage battery pack, housed in the luggage compartment, which can be charged via the grid. The worldwide MINI E fleet trial was extended to China at the beginning of the year, involving the sites of Beijing and Shenzhen.

In 2011, batteries which were previously used in the MINI E test fleet were successfully implemented in a stationary project. In 2013, BMW and the University of San Diego installed a micro grid application with Battery 2nd Life MINI E batteries.
