The Polk County, Oregon, Sheriff’s Office is running 10 patrol cars converted to propane autogas, including seven Ford Crown Vics, two Chevy Tahoes and one Ford F-350 pickup truck; the office expects to save more than $20,000 every year by using the alternative fuel. —Sergeant Mark Garton, Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The EPA certifications allow Icom to convert these popular fleet vehicles in the US market for propane/autogas bi-fuel use. The Chevrolet-brand vehicles include Silverado, Tahoe, Express vans, Avalanche and Suburban. Icom’s EPA certifications now cover approximately three million vehicles, primarily Ford and GM fleet vehicles.

Clean Fleet Report was invited to Toyota’s U.S. Fuel economy numbers have not been announced, but the same gasoline-hybrid power plant in the Toyota Tundra pickup gets 20 mpg city/24 highway/22 combined.
