The Polk County, Oregon, Sheriff’s Office is running 10 patrol cars converted to propane autogas, including seven Ford Crown Vics, two Chevy Tahoes and one Ford F-350 pickup truck; the office expects to save more than $20,000 every year by using the alternative fuel.

Clean Fleet Report was invited to Toyota’s U.S. Fuel economy numbers have not been announced, but the same gasoline-hybrid power plant in the Toyota Tundra pickup gets 20 mpg city/24 highway/22 combined. Clean Fleet Report had the opportunity to drive the Sequoia while pulling a 6,500-pound boat and trailer. Power to tow.

Clean Fleet Report drove the 2021 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy AWD with the 3.8-liter In 297 miles of mostly freeway driving through Southern California we averaged 22.1 mpg, but did a bit better on a 207-mile freeway run with the smart cruise control set at 65 mph, achieving 25.1 Powertrain – 10 years/100,000 miles.

The vehicles are 23-foot, gasoline-powered hybrid electric cutaway buses using the StarTrans Senator bus body, Ford E450 chassis, and the Azure Dynamics Balance parallel electric hybrid system with the Ford 5.4L The HTUF program benefits from the participation of more than 80 fleets representing roughly one million trucks and buses.
