The California Air Resources Board (ARB) announced that California Climate Investments in zero-emission vehicles have reached $599 million since 2013, putting hundreds of thousands of ultra-clean cars, and entire fleets of zero-emission trucks and buses on California roads and highways. School buses: 29 electric school buses.

The goal of the revised ZEV program should be to help demonstration-stage, low-GHG emitting technologies to commercialization, include fuel cell vehicles (FCVs); battery-electric vehicles (BEVs); and Enhanced AT PZEVs, which currently include plug-in HEVs (PHEV) and hydrogen internal combustion engine (HICE) vehicles.

The Plug-In Partners campaign has now surpassed 6,000 fleet orders. Soft” fleet orders are a critical component of the Plug-In Partners goal of demonstrating to automakers that a market exists for flexible fuel plug-in hybrids. It’s interesting to speculate regarding the relative market share of the EV in relation to the PHEV. It’ll be mostly driven by the cost of gas. CEO Carlos Ghosn is spending big money to make electric vehicles in high volumes — and soon. Nissan is not alone in going electric. That’s a given.
