Estonia launches nationwide fast charging network

Estonia has become the world’s first country to launch a nationwide fast-charging network for electric vehicles, using technology provided by ABB. The chargers are installed in urban areas with more than 5,000 inhabitants, and on major roads throughout the country, creating the highest concentration of DC chargers in Europe.

Estonia has become the first country in the world to have a complete national network of DC fast chargers. The tiny eastern European country contracted ABB to install around 200 DC fast charger across the state, creating in the process, the highest concentration of fast chargers anywhere in Europe.

Nissan to lead EC-backed multi-standard rapid charge network project in UK and Ireland

Installation of the rapid chargers is due to be completed by the end of 2014. When complete, a total of 74 rapid chargers will have been installed, covering more than 1,100 km (684 miles) of major trunk routes and providing EV-friendly links to five seaports and five international airports.

Oil Drum Licenses On-Board Hydrogen Generator for Baltic States

University of Kent (UK) spin-off Oil Drum Ltd , has signed a licensing deal with UAB Hydro2 that will enable its on-board hydrogen generator technology to be manufactured, sold and installed in the Baltic States. It is also developing an opportunity in Russia. The devices are now in use on more than 750 vehicles worldwide.
