Using a new kind of hydrogel material, researchers at the University of Texas at Austin have pulled water out of thin air at temperatures low enough to be achieved with sunlight. The hydrogel can release more than 80 percent of absorbed water in about 20 minutes at a temperature of 40 °C—hot, but not uncommon in desert environments.

Our group was an interesting and friendly mix of unemployed construction workers looking for new careers; electricians, iron workers and other licensed contractors looking to expand into solar installation; and three or four guys who were there to learn how to do a self install of solar for their home, shop or cabin.

The PUMA looks like it might sell well in university and corporate campuses and those large empty subdivisions in SoCal and Vegas. by ChefTom56 April 7, 2009 7:16 AM PDT This is a great concept, except in the winter in most cities and the summer in Phoenix, so this will only be a part-time ride in the most optimistic sense possible.
