We need the scratch to pay for printing up rules of the road booklets and to offer free bike parking corrals at major events throughout the South Bay.

The California Air Resources Board directed its staff to take steps to provide further locomotive and rail yard emission reductions beyond those achieved by existing US Environmental Protection Agency and state regulations and agreements. While we are pleased to have already reduced diesel emissions at the rail yards, it’s not enough.

Highway barriers erected along roadways to block the sound and sight of traffic for the adjoining neighborhoods may also be reducing the amount of pollutants, such as soot from diesel exhaust, reaching area residents, according to a study by NOAA and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Dr. Heywood recently co-authored a study called “On The Road in 2035—Reducing Petroleum Consumption and GHG Emissions.”. Longer Term Green House Gas emissions reductions. We are going to need to find major areas where we are going to be able to achieve major reductions in emissions and they will not all be technology.

These projects put more than 9,000 alternative fuel and energy-efficient light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles on the road, and establish 542 refueling locations across the country. New vehicles to be deployed include 55 CNG vehicles, 363 propane vehicles, 89 hybrid electric vehicles, and 56 neighborhood electric vehicles.
