ALTe Powertrain Technologies, the developer of a Range Extended Electric Powertrain used to repower light commercial vehicles up to 26,000 GVW ( earlier post ), has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to form a joint venture with Inmatech, Inc. , The applications will range from automotive batteries to stationary grid power leveling devices.

Evonik Industries, STEAG, and other project partners put a lithium electricity storage system (LESSY) into operation at STEAG’s Fenne power plant in Völklingen, Saarland, Germany. The large-format energy storage system was developed under a research initiative sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

German utility STEAG is investing around €100 million in grid energy storage systems (ESS) totalling 90 MW, equipped with Li-ion cells from LG Chem. Nidec ASI will take on the role of Main Contractor (EPC), responsible for the installation and commissioning of the plants.

Poland-based battery systems maker Impact Clean Power Technology unveiled a visualization of GigafactoryX—a large-scale battery factory for electric vehicles and energy storage which will be launched in the city of Pruszków, near Warsaw.
