Along with the registration site, the E-Transit electric vans have updated pricing, with a targeted starting MSRP of $43,295 for the cutaway—lower than originally announced—to $52,690 for the high-roof extended-wheelbase cargo van. It will be built alongside the Transit at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri.

Smith Electric Vehicles US Corporation ( SEV US ) has selected Kansas City as the site for its US assembly plant. The new assembly plant will be located at a portion of an airline overhaul base at Kansas City International (KCI) Airport and is expected to create 120 jobs by 2010. The SEV US Newton.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Smith Electric Vehicles announced that Smith will open an electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Chicago. Chicago will be Smith’s third location in the United States, joining the headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., and a manufacturing facility in New York City.

In a recent press release, the Leawood Police Department in Kansas announced that it had acquired a Tesla Model Y Long Range for its fleet. The vehicle would be used as one of the Leawood PD’s patrol cars. Captain Kirt Yoder, the agency’s project manager, noted that Tesla Kansas had been quite helpful.

Ford Motor Company announced today that it has successfully started shipping its brand new all-electric E-Transit van to customers, working to fulfill the over 10,000 orders the automaker has to for the vehicle. The E-Transit has been a staple vehicle for many businesses and companies since its introduction in 1965.
