The gasoline engine only runs in reversing to power the batteries. There are also videos on Youtube where people change the pack the DIY way or the individual modules, but be aware to only buy individual modules from a trusted source. It’s transmission is sort of a CVT, on which a gear is always engaged so there is no shifting.

I plugged the hoses with short peices of wooden dowels. Not a drop of gasoline was spilled. I pulled off heater control cables, started unhooking cable plugs, removed the instrument cluster, dropped the steering column and. I had run the remaining gas (petrol) out of the car by driving it up hill away from the house.
