Since it was not a Level 2 charger, I knew it would not gain much juice overnight. On the last day I knew I would have to get a full charge to make it back to Heathrow and leave it with enough juice for the driver who would collect it. Since I was attending the Detroit Auto Show, I could replicate my UK trip for comparison.

Source: Detroit News ] Volvo might be getting serious about EVs. The first Level III chargers deployed by Etec will offer free juice. I may be most interested affordable electric cars, but this makes sense to me. I only wish GM had the smarts back in the day to have rebranded the EV1 as a Caddy and continued limited run production.

Taking advantage of the myriad Star Wars jokes on May 4th, the Detroit truck brand captioned their video by saying a new “force” is coming, before going on to provide a date just five days from now. Or, and we’re just putting this out there as a Wild Rumour of the Day, perhaps Ram is juicing the TRX to Redeye levels of horsepower.

MIT spinoff A123 was a personal favorite, also Germany’s Continental was in the running, but it was LG Chem subsidiary and Detroit based Compact Power, Inc. Since Compact Power is based in Detroit, and GM is their first big customer, maybe that’s enough of a reason to build at least a token factory in the U.S.

Chrysler’s two Detroit competitors have been fairly forthcoming about the charging behavior of drivers of their plug-in hybrids. The auto enthusiast magazine went on to note, “Access to a charger and a commitment to plug in at night, juicing the heavy battery for local use the next day, are musts.”. 54k MSRP.
