Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL), Britain’s biggest bus and coach manufacturer, has chosen GKN Hybrid Power as a preferred partner and committed to the purchase of 250 of its Gyrodrive electric flywheel hybrid systems ( earlier post ). It will also be working closely with GKN to develop the technology for international markets.

Researchers from Imperial College London and their European partners, including Volvo Car Corporation, are developing a prototype multifunctional structural composite material composed of carbon fibers and a polymer resin which can store and discharge electrical energy and which is also strong and lightweight enough to be used for car parts.

” GREEN IDEAS Freight Bus DESIGNER Hugh Frost is looking for backers for his double-decker Freight Busconcept. Freight Bus was one of the losing entrants in London mayor Boris Johnson’scompetition to design a new bus for the capital. So the car uses an electrical store to power the drive motor.
