Clean Energy Fuels Corp delivered 143 million gallons of Redeem Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) last year as robust sales of the carbon-neutral transportation fuel continued in 2019, closing out the year with significant deals throughout North America. The contract also includes continued operation and maintenance for the length of the agreement.

A key component to the new SOFC system is a small reformer inside the unit that converts high-sulfur military fuels such as JP-8 jet fuel into a hydrogen-rich gas capable of use in the fuel cell. Previous systems required heavy maintenance to operate with such fuels.

Another challenge is training operators and maintenance staff in the differences between BEBs and conventional buses. This will be a major challenge for any fleet looking to deploy electric buses that charge during peak times. The industry needs to work on a permanent solution for all BEB adopters to keep costs reasonable in the future.
