Norway now has two swap stations in operation, and Nio claims it will have 20 swap stations across Europe in countries including Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden by the end of this year. High power DC fast charging will still remain the widely deployed quick top-up charging solution for this reason.

ABB has delivered and installed Austria’s first network of direct current (DC) fast-charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs). ABB’s Terra stations can recharge an EV battery in as little as 15 to 30 minutes, compared with eight hours when using a regular alternating current (AC) power outlet.

The EV fast charging points come with three different connectors; CHAdeMO for 50kW DC charging, Type 2 43kW AC and CCS (combined charging system). Although it’s not quite extensive, the Shell recharge network currently run by Allego has the advantage of having available areas for expansion and substantial financial backing.

Power and automation technology group ABB has started installing multiple fast-charging systems for electric vehicles (EVs) at some BP service stations in the Netherlands as part of a nationwide trial. ABB’s Terra stations can recharge an EV battery in as little as 15 to 30 minutes.
