Mate Rimac, founder of Rimac, launched a new level 4 autonomous electric car brand called Verne and coming to market in 2026. Rimac is best known for its electric hypercar, the Nevera, and for its surprising takeover of Bugatti through its partnership with Porsche. The company claims to already have deals with 11 cities.

For its next-gen models, BMW is turning to Croatian electric hypercar specialist Rimac for EV batteries. Rimac’s tech division will supply batteries for BMW’s future electric cars. Rimac said the partnership will require them to establish sophisticated battery production lines at its campus near Zagreb, Croatia.

In 2018, the Commission adopted the Strategic Action Plan for Batteries and has promoted a wide range of initiatives as part of the plan.

Rimac, the Croatian EV maker behind the record-setting Nevera electric supercar , is launching a robotaxi service. Founded in 2009, Rimac Automobili has focused on building the most powerful electric hypercar. The all-electric Rimac Nevera broke 23 performance records last year in one day – a record itself.

The automotive industry just welcomed one of its first electric hypercar juggernauts, with Rimac, a Croatian electric hypercar startup, taking control of Volkswagen’s esteemed Bugatti brand. Bugatti’s production would still be in France, though its research unit would be moving to Rimac’s Croatia headquarters.
