New Delhi: Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Japan’s Panasonic Energy Co. a Panasonic Group company, have signed a binding term sheet to form a JV for manufacturing cylindrical lithium-ion cells in India for two-and three-wheel vehicles and energy storage systems, the public sector oil giant announced on Sunday.

In recent years, Indian Oil has actively engaged in the development of clean energy sources, including the utilization of solar power, biofuels and hydrogen. Indian Oil is aiming to achieve its net-zero operational emissions target by 2046, aligning with the India’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality for the country by 2070.

The project, being financially and technically supported by The International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technologies (ICHET) of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will be conducted over two years beginning in July 2010 and include development of a fleet of 15 three-wheeled vehicles.

The Piaggio MP3 is a three wheeled maxi-scooter already being sold in the USA! Minus three when people realize that there already are cars like that: The Swatch Car, Hyundai Getz, i10, etc. The PUMA looks like it might sell well in university and corporate campuses and those large empty subdivisions in SoCal and Vegas.
