Plug-in cars are inevitable. The other carmakers domestic and foreign have less firm but well press-released plans for plug-ins. Veteran automakers, oil companies, and federal and state governments have been both the prime movers and obstacles to plug-in cars in the past and they remain so today. Will we get our money’s worth?

Suzuki Gran Vitara A t least, that is what Nicholas Kristof of the NY Times has suggested in his belief that Plug-Ins are today's answer to tomorrow's needs. He also makes the point, that plug ins will provide more energy security and less global warming. The cars I'm talking about are known as " plug-in hybrids." 100-M.P.G.

Now, people are used to cellphone subscription plans and plugging the phone into the wall at night, Mr. Thesen reasoned, so a switch to electric cars would also be manageable. Analysts are sanguine about this kind of thing becoming more common — someday. In effect, cars would be acting like tiny power stations. We will own the battery.
