The concept of a hydrogen pipeline connecting Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and traversing the Mediterranean Sea to Europe may seem ambitious, but initial assessment indicates its feasibility. Route from Gulf to EU border could run 3,400 km from Qatar to Greece via Yanbu, Neom, Gulf of Aqaba, Port Said area.

The product, the first from the Qatar-based Pearl GTL plant to reach the Americas, will be stored at a hub in Houston and routed to Shell Lubricants’ GTL-enabled blending facilities throughout the United States. The plant uses natural gas from Qatar’s North Field to manufacture high-quality base oils and other GTL products.
