Clean Vehicle Tax Credits Clean vehicle tax credits kicked into high gear in 2023. New federal EV tax credits were expanded and updated, and credits for used and commercial EVs became available for the first time in January.

Although the EPA has not as of this writing released the final fuel economy numbers for the US A3 e-tron, Filip Brabec, Director, Product Management, Audi of America, said that the figures will be around 83 to 86 MPGe combined (depending on the equipment level), with 35 to 39 mpg gasoline only and 16-17 miles of EV range.

The EPA rates fuel economy, when using the hybrid gasoline-only engine at 30 miles per gallon. This is excellent fuel economy for a 5,010-pound nicely styled shoe box. To produce the vehicles, Ford is converting three truck and SUV plants to car plants—Michigan Assembly, Cuautitlan Assembly in Mexico, which begins building the new Fiesta subcompact early next year; and Louisville (Ky.) Assembly, which will be converted to produce small vehicles from Ford’s global Focus platform beginning in 2011.
