Last week, 37 electric vehicle (EV) driver associations from 26 countries, including Plug In America, joined forces to create the Global EV Drivers’ Alliance, building a worldwide EV community. Like Plug In America, the Alliance is calling for every new light-duty passenger vehicle sold in their countries to have a plug by 2030.

ABB has introduced the Terra 53 for North America, showcasing it at the Plug-in 2013 conference in San Diego. To date, the company has helped facilitate the creation of nationwide charging infrastructure networks throughout Northern Ireland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Estonia.

The new building will feature 100 vehicle-to-grid chargers, from Nissan’s partner ENEL, allowing Nissan’s range of EVs to plug in and draw down energy from the grid at off-peak periods with the ability to “sell back” the stored energy to the grid. Grid integration trials have already begun in Denmark.

Two weeks in on a trip to Denmark and my perspective on weather and transportation had shifted. Contrary to some reports, the Copenhagen Climate Conference was a great success. After parading in Evs from City Hall to Denmark’s oldest University, mayors from around the world had something to say. Toronto would lead!
