At 48 volts, a VTES electric supercharger will transform 7kW of battery power into a highly boosted charge of air for downsized gasoline and diesel engines. There will be no torque deficit or other tradeoffs from essential engine downsizing and higher gearing, which now dominates the development of internal combustion engines.

Toyota Motor continues to lay the foundation for the introduction of its production fuel cell hybrid vehicle in 2015; the company began work on fuel cell technology in 1992. The output power is more than 100kW, despite significant unit downsizing. The company is considering using the Toyota FCV Concept packaging.

That’s perhaps not such a bad thing given the undercooked Hilux REVO BEV concept the company recently wheeled out in Australia. It has now re-established it as an electrified sub-brand of GMC. But it’s the EV we’re most interested because it will likely use the 800V electrical architecture from the Kia EV6 and EV9.
